See the U.S.A. !

We began an adventure study of America!  We "kicked off" our adventure with a fascinating book, Alice Ramsey's Grand Adventure, written and illustrated by Don Brown.    As we read the book we learned and discussed the life and times of Alice Ramsey, an adventurous, courageous, woman who persevered no matter what challenges were in her path. Did you know that  Alice was the first woman to drive across the United States at the age of 22?  She made her first coast to coast drive during a time in America's history when women stayed at home, did not drive nor did they vote! The story was rich and descriptive, filled with  many wonderful  illustrations.  Alice began her adventure in New York City so,  that is where we decided to begin our study.
